The Future We Want Model United Nations will host a 5-day exclusive training workshop in New York City, July 22-28, 2018. the event will be an opportunity for young people starting out in MUN to learn about UN and Model UN Best Practice and to understand the significant impact Model UN can have on the lives of young people. It is also an opportunity for young people to learn directly from UN staff members on how the UN organs work.
The theme is “Strengthening youth involvement with the UN, through Model UN”. The workshop starts with 3 days of intensive training, led by UN Officials and experienced youths in the field of MUN. It will then end with a 2-day MUN simulation. The purpose of this workshop is to prepare students to attend the most inclusive International MUN Conferences. At the same time participants are provided with a deep understanding of the United Nations, the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda, Negotiation Skills, Public Speaking and Leadership, all while engaging in several learning activities in a very interactive way.
The Future We Want Workshop aims to not only prepare students and young professionals for international conferences but to guide them in developing their critical thinking skills which will further enhance their decision making and public speaking ability. We ensure the youths are able to develop profound knowledge on issues critical to the UN agenda and can contribute to shaping the future we want. This workshop seeks to build on existing relationships, by providing a platform for continuous engagement of young people on the SDGs.
